Dr. Macy Sparks is originally from Lake of the Ozarks, MO. She attended the University of Missouri graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in biology. During her time at Mizzou, Dr. Sparks was involved in a sorority, worked at the university’s rock-climbing gym training new climbers, and spent her summers back home on the lake. Following undergrad, Dr. Sparks earned her doctorate from Southern College of Optometry in 2022. While in school, she was an active member and leader in SVOSH (Students Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity), where she volunteered on an optometric service trip to Costa Rica, and served at World Relief Clinic in Memphis, TN. Dr. Sparks was also a board member of the AOSA (American Optometric Student Association Board) and a president of Omega Delta Social Fraternity. Dr. Sparks received the Second Year Clinical Science Award, Jerry L. Clay Endowed Award/Scholarship, and at graduation, was given the Outstanding Clinician Award.
Dr. Sparks is a board-certified Optometrist who practices full-scope optometry. She has received external training at SouthEast Eye Specialist in Chattanooga, TN focusing on ocular disease, pre and pos- operative cataract surgery care, and various corneal conditions. She also trained at Professional Eyecare of Statesboro, in Statesboro, GA. At this rotation, she gained experience in scleral contact lenses, mopia control, and furthered her knowledge of ocular disease. Dr. Sparks’ special interest include primary care, pediatric exams, ocular disease, dry eye, and pre/post-operative care.
Outside of the office, Dr. Sparks enjoys spending time with her fiance and their goldendoodle. Dr. Sparks and her fiancé both love to travel, but they also try and take advantage of all the wonderful things to do around the Greenville area. In the summer, you can find them boating on Lake Keowee, and in the winter, you can count on them to do some snow skiing/snowboarding out in the Colorado mountains. They also enjoy hiking, rock climbing, and trying new restaurants.
