Joseph L. Parisi, MD, FACS

Joseph (Joe) L. Parisi MD, FRCSC, FACS was born in Akron, Ohio, and raised in Ontario, Canada. He entered the Life Sciences undergraduate program at Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario and subsequently obtained his medical degree. The internship was at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Montreal, Quebec, part of the renowned McGill University Medical System. Following this Dr. Parisi returned to Queen’s University for a residency in Ophthalmology which included a year of Neuro and Ocular Pathology.

Following his training, Dr. Parisi built a successful, well-respected comprehensive Ophthalmology practice in Hamilton, ON, Canada and was on staff at McMaster University Medical Center and at the Hamilton General Hospital for four years. In 1994, he completed fellowship training in oculoplastic surgery at the National Eye Institute in Ottawa, Canada under Dr. David Jordan and relocated with his family to Clemson, South Carolina when he joined Dr. Robert O. Brown in clinical practice.

Dr. Parisi is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He has performed over 30,000 cataract and refractive surgeries using the most advanced techniques, lenses and equipment available in the nation. These have included Toric and presbyopia-correcting implants for cataract and refractive lens exchange surgeries, implantable collamer lenses (ICL), micro-incisional glaucoma surgery (MIGS), LASIK, and ASA with extensive experience in topography-guided procedures and corneal inlays. He has performed thousands of microsurgical procedures including orbital and tear duct surgery, cosmetic and functional eyelid surgery, and laser treatment for glaucoma and retinal disease. He is the South Carolina Medical Director for Eye Health America and senior ophthalmologist at Clemson Eye. He served as Chief of Surgery at Oconee Medical Center, in Seneca, from 2000 to 2002. He also maintains privileges at Newberry County Memorial Hospital in Newberry, SC. Dr. Parisi is a speaker and key opinion leader for Alcon and Zeiss.

Dr. Parisi lives with his family in Greenville. He enjoys a variety of outdoor activities including running, cycling, curling, and skiing as well as playing guitar, cooking, and travel.
