Jonathan Eide, OD

Originally from Des Moines, IA, Dr. Eide graduated from Iowa State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in biology and a minor in business. During college, he worked in optical sales and was involved as a school ambassador and president of the Pre-Optometry Club. He then moved to Memphis, TN where he completed his doctorate degree with honors from Southern College of Optometry. During his training, Dr. Eide completed rotations at The Eye Center in Memphis, TN, North Range Eye Care in Commerce City, CO, and Wolfe Eye Clinic in West Des Moines, IA. Throughout his time at Southern, Dr. Eide was involved in the American Optometric Student Association, Beta Sigma Kappa Honors Society, Omega Delta Social Fraternity, Private Practice Club, and volunteered on an optometric service trip to Bolivia. He was also the recipient of various awards, including a private academic scholarship, the VSP/AAO Practice Excellence scholarship, and the Fred H. Mothershed Endowed scholarship.

As a board-certified Optometrist, Dr. Eide received extensive training with patients in primary care, ocular disease, trauma, contact lenses (including specialty hard or hybrid lenses), vision therapy, and pediatrics. He has special interests in managing glaucoma and ocular disease, fitting specialty lenses on irregular corneas, dry eye, and ocular emergencies. His favorite aspect of Optometry is patient engagement and learning more about the patients he serves, allowing him to tailor treatments, glasses, or contact lens prescriptions to their individual lifestyle.

Outside of the office, Dr. Eide enjoys spending time with his wife, Athena (also an OD) and dog, Nellie. His favorite hobbies include weightlifting, golfing, hiking, traveling, visiting new restaurants and breweries, hanging out with friends and family, and watching sports– especially football and wrestling.
