Experience a Lifetime of Clear Vision with LASIK

Clemson Eye is a Well‑Respected Leader in Vision Correction Surgery

We offer multiple excellent solutions to treat your nearsightedness, farsightedness, astigmatism, or age‑related near-vision loss (presbyopia).

Since the first LASIK procedure was performed in 1990, millions have had it worldwide. It is considered the safest elective procedure in all of medicine. Along with its excellent safety profile, it has an excellent success rate.

Clemson Eye owned and operated Spectrum Lasik from 2010 to 2015. With the opening of our new Visual Health & Surgery center in Greenville in 2016, we consolidated all our services under one name – Clemson Eye. With eye doctors in twelve locations, including our Lasik surgery suite at our Greenville – Pelham Road location, we are here to support you throughout the Upstate!

Our LASIK consultations are free. They take up to 60 minutes, include a comprehensive eye exam, and can be booked at any of our clinic locations.

Advanced LASIK Technology

We use the fastest, most advanced laser refractive system available today.

Some centers offer older technology and possibly somewhat lower prices. But the newer technology we use solves problems that earlier technology simply can’t, such as dry eye, astigmatism, and night vision issues. Our eye surgeons use the best technology and techniques because it gives our patients the best visual results.

The ability to see better after laser vision correction at Clemson Eye has motivated patients to explore new opportunities personally and professionally.

Experienced LASIK Surgeons

Clemson Eye has been a leading provider of LASIK for Upstate residents for over 15 years. Our eye doctors and medical team provide our patients with the best experience, technology, and visual results possible.

Clemson Eye surgeons are American Board Certified Ophthalmologists and together have performed more than 50,000 LASIK, cataract, and microsurgical procedures. Our LASIK clinic is located in Greenville, but you can have your pre- and post-operative examinations at any of Clemson Eye’s convenient locations.

LASIK on the Frontlines

LASIK outcomes have been overwhelmingly positive. Most military patients see 20/20 or better after the procedure without corrective glasses or contact lenses, and the rate of complications has been very low.

In another study, 100% of pilots and other aircraft personnel from the U.S. Navy and U.S. Marine Corps who underwent custom (wavefront-guided) LASIK attained 20/20 uncorrected vision within two weeks after surgery.

When questioned about their satisfaction one month after surgery, 95 percent of these patients said the procedure made them more effective in their roles, and 100 percent said they would recommend LASIK to other aviators.

Who is a LASIK Candidate?

LASIK at Clemson Eye is safe and fast. Recovery is generally quick or a few days after your procedure. There are no bandages or stitches required.

You are a LASIK candidate if:

  • You’re 18 to 60 years old.
  • You do not have an eye disease.
  • Your prescription has not changed for at least a year.
  • Have the approved corneal thickness and topography.

Clemson Eye offers patients a multitude of vision correction options. We are committed to providing a solution that is right for you. Our eye doctors always take the time to discuss with you the very best options for your specific situation and long-term eye health. Consultations for any vision correction procedures are free and take just 60 minutes.

What Can LASIK Treat?

LASIK restores your vision if you suffer from nearsightedness, farsightedness, presbyopia, or astigmatism.

Here are the refractive errors LASIK can correct:

  • Myopia (Nearsightedness) occurs when light rays are focused in front of the retina instead of directly on the retina. To treat nearsightedness, the cornea must be made flatter. This is accomplished by removing microscopic amounts of tissue from the center of the cornea.
  • Hyperopia (Farsightedness) occurs when light rays are not bent enough to focus on the retina. To treat farsightedness, the central cornea must be made steeper. This is accomplished by directing the laser beam to remove tissue from around this area.
  • Astigmatism (irregularly shaped cornea) occurs when light rays are focused by an irregularly shaped cornea at more than one point on the retina. To treat astigmatism, the cornea must be made more spherical. By changing the pattern of the beam, tissue is removed in one direction more than the other.
  • Presbyopia (age-related near-vision loss) is part of the eye’s natural aging process, typically starting around age 40. That is the age when the eyes’ natural lenses begin to lose their flexibility. As a result, we lose our ability to focus on objects up close and require reading glasses. To treat presbyopia, our surgeons perform a custom ‘Blended Vision’ LASIK that corrects your dominant eye for distance and your non-dominant eye for intermediate and near vision. Fortunately, patients can test ‘Blended Vision’ prior to LASIK with a specialized ‘Mono-Vision’ contact lens trial, to see if they are an ideal candidate.

Many people mistake LASIK for being a procedure only for younger people, but with our ability to correct presbyopia, LASIK can make you spectacle free when you’re older, too.
